Work
Experience UK (WEUK) is subsidiary of
the Tellus Group Ltd, a professional group of business-to-business
companies covering a wide range of products and services, including management
consultancy, training, business transfer, internet service provision, telecommunications
and marketing (for more information on the Group, please click the link
at the bottom of this page).
Tellus Group Ltd was established during the latter part of 2003 to act as
the holding company for all group assets, intellectual property, patents and
copyrighed materials.
Tellus
Ltd (www.tellus.co.uk) the Business and Management Consultancy
subsidiary, was established in 1994 (originally called Integra Applied
Intelligence Ltd) to provide a broad range of business support, business
consultancy and training services to small and medium sized companies (generally
employing less than 250). Tellus has been involved in a wide range of vocational
training programmes, and specifically, many funded or otherwise supported
by the European Commission (including the Leonardo da Vinci Programme).
As an organisation, Work Experience UK grew out of the work
that Tellus Management Consultants undertakes with
the European Commission, primarily in the Leonardo da Vinci Mobility,
Placement and Exchange initiatives. These initiatives focus on the organisation,
management and evaluation of work experience, work placement, internship,
cultural discovery and language training programmes for students and other
young workers across the European Union (including the candidate countries).
It was during late 2002 that the Directors of Tellus Ltd
decided to establish Work Experience UK because, in their
opinion the quality of provision (organisation, management and evaluation)
of work experience, work placement and internship programmes in the United
Kingdom (and specifically in the South West) was very poor. It was felt that
the company could provide a much higher quality of service than existed at
the time to universities, colleges and other vocational training organisations
across Europe.
Leveraging its experience with Tellus Ltd, Work
Experience UK has extensive experience working with international
organisations, ranging from Universities and Colleges, Chambers of Commerce
and Government Departments, to Small, Medium and Large companies. This experience
gives the company a unique insight into the different cultural business business
issues that are likely to be confronted by Beneficiaries of work experience,
work placement and internship programmes.
Since its inception, Work Experience UK has developed a large
number of international Partners with which it works, and can boast that in
its short existance, it has developed partnerships with every country in the
European Union, including all candidate countries. In addition, Work Experience
UK has established working relationships with every Leonardo da Vinci National
Agency, and with the EC Leonardo da Vinci unit in Brussels.
As a company, Work Experience UK ia an active participant
in the Leonardo da Vinci Programme, primarily in Mobility
Projects, but we are also involved in others, including Research & Analysis,
and Pilot Projects (all of which are related to training, vocational development
and international mobility).
